Students acquire Anishnaabemowin skills to develop and implement sustainable language programs in Indigenous communities and organizations. Students practice their speaking skills through interactions in the classroom, language immersion labs, community interactions, and through immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technology activities. The history of Anishnaabemowin and current issues affecting revitalization and preservation are also studied. Incorporating the Anishnaabe world-view, students examine the role and importance of Anishnaabemowin in ceremony, cultural values, and community.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status Grade 12 English (C or U) Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing
