People are living longer than ever before and are increasingly concerned about maintaining their health and physical fitness. Considering Canada's aging demographic and increases in the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in the general population, many medical and allied health practitioners are promoting the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle. This program will provide you with a blend of fitness education and health promotion principles to meet the growing demand for professionals who are qualified to deliver programs that emphasize healthy, active living. The program will help you develop the skills and knowledge to change and inspire the lives of others through courses that focus on health promotion, individual and group exercise programming, nutrition, fitness assessment, and recreation management.
For graduates of the new curriculum (OSS): Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits) or equivalent or mature student status, including: Any grade 12 English (C) or (U) Any grade 11 (C), (U), or (M) or grade 12 mathematics (C) or (U) Any grade 11 or 12 science (C), or (U) Recommended: Any grade 11 or 12 health and physical education (e.g., PLF4C, PPL40) or exercise science (e.g., PSE4U)
